Conventional optical pyrometry methods do not always yield satisfactory results in cases of temperature monitoring in complicated industrial processes. For example, measuring the temperature of heated particles in thermal plasma spraying jets requires recognizing the object being measured by solving a mathematical problem. In addition to diagnosis of the temperature of a heated gas flow based on its self-radiation, it is necessary to utilize an irradiation physical model of IR active molecules. The paper briefly describes two diagnostic systems and methods for the above-mentioned industrial application. The main details of the system design, calibration and performance are presented. © 2003 American Institute of Physics [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
