Abstrakt: The article discusses the discusses the free and unfree status of Gaelic, or Gaels, people living in Ireland under English rule from circa 1250 through 1327. The role that Gaels' having free status played in being allowed to bring a legal action in English royal courts in Ireland is discussed.
