The article examines the impact of federal rules on coal production and use in the U.S as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Office of Surface Mining have proposed rules to limit environmental impacts and greenhouse gas emission. Topics discussed include competition from cheaper natural gas, remarks of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Commissioner Tony Clark and improvement in country's air quality because of technological solutions being installed on coal-fired power plants. |
