The article discusses American medical ethics in relation to the deactivation of implanted cardiac-assist devices such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) as of 2012, and it mentions U.S. constitutional laws, statutes, and judicial guidelines regarding cardiac-assist devices. The views of medical patients, health care professionals, and representatives of medical device manufacturers are examined, along with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs). |
