| Abstrakt: |
The importance of repair-free operation of continuous-caster molds is demonstrated and the main locations where the mold's narrow walls undergo wear are identified. The article examines aspects of the adjustment of these walls before casting and discusses ways of improving the design of the mold. A new design is proposed for the narrow walls and comparative data are presented on the main thermal indices of the new mold and existing molds.
