The present study was carried out on 180 specimens of Tilapia zillii of different size and body weight . They were randomly collected at different seasons from Tigris river at North of Qurna. through July, 2013 and June 2014 for parasites, 86 (47.8%) of these were infected. Parasites recovered were, Clinostomum complanatum. 47(26.1%), Euclinostomum heterostomum 20 (11.2 %), Clinostomum tilapiae 10 (5.5 %), and Protozoa Cyst 9 (5 %). Adult fishes were more infected than the juvenile, females were significantly more infected (P <0.05). Infection increases with length and body weight. Physio-chemical parameter of the river was good and infection rate was high cold season and low in hot season. The presence of these parasites might elicit some pathological effects on the fish by retarding their growth, causing tissue description and even death. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
