Abstrakt: The results of the studies, conducted in the past few years to evaluate the quartz formations of the Karelia-Kola region, have provide all scientific arguments in favour of a new promising region of Russia. The results of the studies have led the authors to conclude that: 1. The zonal structure of quartz is responsible for its behavior upon enrichment. Highly defective zones, i.e. damper zones, are the first to be dissolved in acid. Crystallites are dissolved much more slowly. Damper zones that contain mobile impurities can be completely dissolved by selecting the correct quartz HF treatment regime. At the same time, the natural crystallite distribution pattern in quartz will be preserved. 2. The study of the mineralogical and technological characteristics of quartz and the application of innovative methods to purification technology have confirmed the assumption that the Karelia-Kola region is promising for quartz as a raw material for the production of quartz products, including high-pure quartz. The Karelia-Kola region is a perspective for common and high quality quartz. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
