Abstrakt: The cosmetic surgery of the upper facial region has known a remarkable development and an increasing popularity over the last years. The final goals of these interventions are a more natural and juvenile appearance with shorter recovery periods. And for achieving them, the surgeons developed new techniques, including the endoscopic approach. Particularly this technique necessits a throughout knowledge of microscopic anatomy of the region involved. The brow and periorbital region play a crucial role in facial expression of emotions, health and age. The aesthetic goals of the eyebrows surgery include the correction of ptosis, muscle activity, rhytids and shape. One of the main properties of the brow region is the great amount of connective and muscular fibers, blood vessels and nervous fibers, especially sensitive. Eyebrow position, shape and contour are maintained by a group of five muscles: frontalis, procerus, corrugator supercilii, depressor supercilii, orbicularis oculi. These muscle fibers interdigitate in the brow area. The fat pad lies beneath the muscles and helps to identify muscular landmarks. The bones of the region and the sutures between them are very useful landmarks for skin incision in eyebrow lifting surgery. Conclusions. The accurate knowledge of the anatomy and histology of the brow region is very important for the aesthetic and cosmetic interventions, and also for the reconstructive and transplant surgery.
