Abstrakt:	The author presents his views on the insufficiency of evidence for stratifying risk of fracture and subsequent drug therapy to prevent hip fracture to warrant current approach which assumes the link between bone fragility and hip fracture. Topics include the association between hip fractures and morbidity and mortality and high healthcare costs, and the value of identifying and treating patients as a cost effective strategy to prevent fractures.
