Abstrakt: A mathematical model of the temperature regime of a furnace used for forming foam glass granules is presented. The temperature field in each zone of the furnace is described the software package MAGMAsoft. The temperature problem is solved in a non-stationary and a stationary mode. The heart loss to the environment and heat capacity of the foaming material are taken into account. The calculations provide to estimate the power required for the heaters used. Specific solutions are obtained which refer to the appropriate optimum temperature regime for the different stages of the process- forming, fixing, tempering and cooling. A detailed study of the kinetics of foam glass formation in a single pellet is presented too. A solution concerning the temperature field in the pellet during the process of foaming is obtained and discussed. The mathematical interpretation takes automatically into account the change of the foam-glass volume and that of any other process parameter such as mass density, thermal conductivity, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
