In the face of recent natural disasters happening around the world, the realities of field anesthesia during war time, and the challenges of anesthesia in unresourced, difficult environments, anesthesia practitioners and respiratory therapists face constant challenge. More than ever, health care professionals need to know and understand the capabilities and limitations of the equipment needed to safely administer an anesthetic.
