Abstrakt: The electronic medical record (EMR) offers new avenues for inviting patients to become active partners in their health care. It also can become a barrier to effective communication.Connected is a 3-hour on-site program designed to provide nurses and other clinicians with tools to help them communicate effectively with patients while using exam room computers. With effective communication, patients will experience the EMIR as a valuable tool that enhances their confidence in care, encourages adherence to treatment regimens, and invites their active participation in their health care.
