Abstrakt: Fifty-six older adults with moderate to profound developmental disabilities, participated in a 24-week program of Tai-Chi exercises. Data were collected prior to and following the exercises in eight physiological measures; systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respiration rate, heart rate, upper extremity reach, body temperature and two separate measures of balance. Analysis of Variance was used to analyze changes in these measures before and after participating in the 24-week program. Significant differences were documented in balance, upper extremity reach and respiration. Implications for future research are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
