Presents information on preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), a technique used to prevent the transmission of certain types of human genetic diseases. Use of PGD to test for genetic diseases that result from defective single genes or abnormal chromosomes; Identification of certain types of genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis, Tay-Sachs disease, Duchenne's muscular dystrophy and Down syndrome. |
