| Abstrakt: | The article discusses the growing use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) among the elderly population as well as the general public at large. The demographic trends as well as the utilization of CAM among older adults is described. Researchers have found that 27 percent of adverse drug events that occur in primary care and 42 percent of adverse drug events in long-term care facilities were preventable in older adults. The need for further research on the selection of CAM modalities is highlighted. |
