Physical ill health can restrict and shorten the lives of people with severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. This article looks at a new initiative by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, in collaboration with the Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of General Practitioners, to help identify the risk of cardiovascular disorders and type 2 diabetes, and improve treatment.
