This paper discusses findings from a mixed-methods research designed for investigating assessment practices in teacher-training institutes offering associate and bachelor's degrees in education (ADE/B.Ed (Hons.) in their elementary programmes in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province. Two hundred studentteachers -- selecting twenty respondents from each of the sampled eight Regional Institutes for Teacher Education (RITEs) and two Institutes of Education and Research (IERs) -- participated in the study. A survey questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents, which was analysed using SPSS. Major findings are that most student teachers were appreciative of their courses, classroom assessment, mid-term and final-term assessments. Respondents shared that the course design, teaching strategies and the use of various assessment practices were helpful in developing their knowledge and skills for becoming effective teachers.
