The article discusses a study which tested the hypothesis that decreased end-tidal carbon dioxide (CO2) by cardiopulmonary exercise testing predicts central sleep apnea (CSA) in heart failure (HF) patients. Topics covered include the methods used to evaluate CO2 chemosensitivity, the measures used in the study, and the association of ventilatory drive in CO2 chemosensitivity and arterial CO2 set point. |
