We have extended previous studies on the fractal geometry of retinal blood vessels. Certain retinal pathologies have also been analysed. We show that the fractal dimension can be of great use as a clinical tool and can provide a 'meta-language' for analysing the branching patterns of retinal arterial and venous systems in both the normal and the diseased retina.
