Abstrakt: The article features Emanuel William Gâté, a French aristocrat and pioneer grazier in the Gympie District in Queensland. Gâté was born in Fougeres, France in 1845 and became an Army officer in France. It is also noted that he lent a horse to James Nash in 1867 to report the discovery of gold in Queensland that saved the colony from bankruptcy. He died in August 1933.
