| Abstrakt: | The article discusses the teaching of computing in schools. The author compares the concept of computer literacy to literacy in reading and writing and cautions that more research on the cognitive, educational, and policy aspects of teaching computing must be completed in order to build effective curricula. Details on literacy teaching methodologies which have proven to be ineffective, such as the Initial Teaching Alphabet (ITA) and the "look and say" method, are presented. |
