Prevalence survey and assessment of risk factors of musculoskeletal disorders among municipality workers in Isfahan city.

Abstrakt: Background and aims: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are a major cause of disability in world. For this reason, many studies have been conducted on these disorders. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and risk assessment of these disorders in municipality workers in Isfahan. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, different tasks of municipality workers were studied. 12 workers in each task and totally 108 persons were selected. The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders was studied with Nordic questionnaire. QEC (Quick Exposure Check) methods were used to assess the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. Results: Based on the Nordic questionnaire results, 82.4% of the workers suffered from musculoskeletal memberat least a symptom of the disorders that the most of symptoms was reported in knees (59.3%) and lower back (52.8%). Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders was higher. In other word, there was a significant relationship between the level of exposure to the risk and prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders symptoms. (P<0.001) Conclusion: Because 47.2% of working groups were in high and very high risk level, control actions should be initiated as soon as possible. The main ergonomic problems in municipality workers were improper posture, work with repetitive motions, back rotation and bending.
