Abstrakt: |
The present investigation was conducted to find out the socio-economic status and various calf rearing management practices adopted by cattle keepers of Western Rajasthan. 320 respondents from Barmer and Jalore districts of Western Rajasthan were selected. It was found that only 54.69 per cent of respondents were literate.69.06 per cent of the respondents had small herd size while 60 per cent of respondents had small land holding.Regarding calf management practices, 89.06 per cent of the respondents cleaned and trimmed hooves of the calf after birth. Majority of the respondents did not cut naval cord of calf. It was found that 53.13 per cent of the respondents allowed suckling calf up to 6 month and 95 per cent of cattle keepers were not performing de-worming of calves.It was concluded that cattle keepers of Western Rajasthan were not well aware about importance of improved calf-rearing management practices.
