Non Syndromic True Localized Microdontia Of Permanent Central Incisor - A Case Report.

Abstrakt: Dental anomalies are the formative defects caused by genetic disturbances or environmental factors during tooth morphogenesis. Developmental defects occur either alone or in combination with other birth defects. The term microdontia is defined as the condition of having abnormally small teeth. The functional and aesthetic changes caused by microdontia impose the necessity of finding a therapeutic approach of shaping the permanent dentition. Clinically, microdontia in the permanent dentition, excluding the third molars, is found in 0.8-8.4% of the population. One of the commonest forms of localized microdontia is that which affects the maxillary lateral incisor, a condition called Peg laterals. The following article throws light on the unusual occurrence of case of true localized microdontia of a single tooth of central Incisor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
