The article presents the transcript of an online discussion between several U.S. Civil War and U.S. history scholars on the topic of teaching the U.S. Civil War in a global context. According to the article, participants included scholars David M. Prior, Robert E. Bonner, and Sarah E. Cornell, in addition to scholars Don H. Doyle, Niels Eichhorn, and Andre M. Fletcher. The participants discussed the goals of teaching the U.S. Civil War in a transnational context, challenging parochial conceptions, and the use of primary sources. |
