Abstrakt: The data on nearly 30 Roman lead pigs considered to be of Derbyshire Oreield origin and found both within and outside the county have been re-analysed and conclusions drawn about their production. About half are miners' pigs thought to have been on their way to assay and re-casting and the others are Company or Military pigs on their way to ports for export abroad. The locations of the finds suggest an assay and casting depot at Lumsdale, Matlock. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
