Cholera in Yangon, Myanmar, 2012-2013.

Abstrakt: The article describes cases of cholera caused by Vibrio cholerae O1 serotype Ogawa in patients with diarrhea in Yangon, Myanmar from February 2012-June 2013. The diagnosis was confirmed after subjecting the patients to rectal swab, the specimen culture using thiosulfate citrate bile salts sucrose sugar plates, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and multilocus variable-number tandem-repeat analysis (MLVA). The illness and mortality rates in Myanmar are mentioned.
