Abstrakt: Experimental dependences of the velocity of endoplasmic shuttle flows in an isolated plasmodial strand of Physarum polycephalum have been analyzed by laser Doppler microscopy. The spectral analysis of the time dependences of the flows reveals two distinct harmonic components. Inhibitors of cellular respiration (KCN and SHAM) arrest the flows. After removal of the inhibitors, the respiratory system normalizes and gradually restores the activity of both harmonic oscillators. The modeled time-dependent velocity of the endoplasmic motion reconstructed on the basis of the spectral analysis is in a good agreement with experimental data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
