Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries in Pediatric Athletes Presenting to Sports Medicine Clinic: A Comparison of Males and Females Through Growth and Development.

Abstrakt: The article presents a study which evaluates anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in pediatric athletes presenting to a sports medicine clinic with regard to sex and age and body mass index. Subjects of the study consisted of a randomly selected children 5 to 17 years of age, and aggregated data include demographics, injury mechanism, diagnosis, treatment, previous injury, and organized sports. It was found that girls had a steeper increase of ACL injury/total injury by age than boys.
