The reactions of [MoS(HO)], [MoOS(HO)], [MoOS(HO)], and [MoOS(HO)] with Na((CHNS)BH) (=NaTm, hydrotris(methimazolyl)borate ) ligands produced [MoS(Tm)]Cl·2CHOH·5HO ([ 1]Cl·2CHOH·5HO), [MoOS(Tm)]Cl·CHOH·6HO ([ 2]Cl·CHOH·6HO), [MoOS(Tm)]Cl·CHOH·9HO ([ 3]Cl·CHOH·9HO), and [MoOS(Tm)]Cl·CHOH·6HO ([ 4]Cl·CHOH·6HO), respectively. Hexafluorophosphate salts of the compounds [ 1]PF·4CHOH, [ 2]PF·2CHOH·4HO, [ 3]PF·CHOH·2HO, and [ 4]PF·4CHOH·3HO have also been reported. Each molybdenum atom is bonded to the Tm ligand. All of the compounds (except cluster 3 and a chloride salt of cluster 4) have been structually characterized by X-ray structural analysis. The cyclic voltammograms of [ 1]PF, [ 2]PF, and [ 3]PF show one irreversible one-electron oxidation process ( E (V): [ 1]PF, 0.77; [ 2]PF, 0.73; [ 3]PF, 0.74, vs. SHE) and one reversible one-electron reduction process ( E (V): [ 1]PF, −0.89; [ 2]PF, −0.85; [ 3]PF, −1.01, vs. SHE). The cyclic voltammogram of [ 4]PF shows one reversible one-electron oxidation process and one reversible one-electron reduction process ( E (V): [ 4]PF, 0.76, −1.17, vs. SHE). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
