Abstrakt: The article discusses review of human herpes-virus 6 (HHV-6) infection in the immunocompromised host. With respect to patients with haematological malignancies, the authors discussed HHV-6 infection in the context of bone marrow transplantation. The article also describes medical case of a 47-year-old man who developed HHV-6 encephalitis while being treated with the FLAG (fludarabine 30 mg/m (2), cytosine 2 g/m (2) and granulocyte colony stimulating factor daily for 5 d) chemotherapy regimen, in a non-transplant setting. A lumbar puncture showed acellular cerebrospi-nal fluid, there was no growth on culture, and protein and glucose levels were within normal limits.
