The article analyzes the relationships among suspensions, student misbehavior and security measures in U.S. high schools. Topics covered include the examination of conditions associated with racial, ethnic and gender inequities in suspensions, findings on in-school and out-of-school suspensions and the likelihood of suspensions among African-American students and Hispanic/Latino students, and the association of neighborhood crime with school suspension rates. |
