Abstrakt: The article presents a study which examined the use of a quality measures in medical care as endorsed by the National Quality Forum (NQF) and the Institute of Medicine (IOM). The measures covered several variables including signs/symptoms, procedures, medications and in vitro diagnostic tests. The most common signs and symptoms to which patients seek care in hospital-affiliated outpatient and emergency departments include cough, knee and back symptoms, and fever.
