The article presents several case studies related to investigation of clinical signs of hemolytic anemia in horses caused due to ingestion of leaves of pistacia. Cytologic examination revealed eccentrocytes on blood smear that indicate oxidative damage to erythrocyte membrane proteins. Ampicillin and minocycline were administered to resolve leptospira infection. It emphasizes that horses must be isolated from pistacia because of absence of exact pathophysiology of the tree toxicosis. |
