Kamala Das with utmost frankness writes about a number of themes in her poetry. One of them is the man-woman relationship. In her poetry, her personal experiences turn into universal through her fervent expression. In fact, Das in her poems seeks for love, especially mutual love with emotional bond, and tries to achieve consummation in love. The male dominated family relation with her husband gives her no space to articulate her passionate longing for love.
