Being inspired by some functions which preserve certain properties of matries, this paper studies the preserving problem of functions in matrix space over a field with the characteristic not being 2. By using the knowledge of linear algebra, starting from the way of searching new invariants and finding special involutory matrices, we depict the functions preserving involutory matrices on the upper triangular matrix space and the matrix space over a field with the characteristic not being 2.
