This article presents a reply to an article written on the research paper written by the authors on Miocene carbonate depositional sequences at Las Negras and Nijar areas of Spain. Authors have emphasized that the main concern of their research paper was not the age of Miocene carbonate rocks as published in the article, but some nannofossil dates led them area speculation that some carbonate sections may be older than Messinian or late Tortonian. Authors said that radiometric dates on volcanic rocks underlying carbonate rocks were taken from volcanic rocks in Las Negras area lacking a carbonate cover. |
