Reports the accidental needlestick inoculation of a laboratory worker with vaccinia virus. Previous vaccination of the patient against smallpox; Appearance of severe lesions on the fingers; Use of a western blot and polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism to analyze the virus recovered from the lesions. |
