Abstrakt: A biography of Sophia Kovalevskaya, a Russian mathematician is presented. She was born in Moscow, Russia on January 3, 1850 and received her doctorate from Göttingen University in 1874. She became a professor of mathematics at Stockholm University and was the first women to be appointed as Corresponding Member of the Imperial Academy of Sciences. She died on February 10, 1891 in Stockholm, Sweden due to influenza and acute pneumonia.
