Abstrakt: The rationale of anterior versus posterior, or combined fusion is discussed with regards to different clinical diagnoses and situations. Factors involved in the decision-making process include stability, magnitude of deformity, rigidity of deformity, neurologic considerations, bone quality, and medical/metabolic factors. Careful preoperative assessment and planning are required as well as consideration for the patient's overall well being.
