Internal herniae are responsible for 2% of intestinal obstructions. Various types of such herniae have been described. Diagnosis is difficult but must be thought of in a patient with small bowel obstruction without previous laparotomy or apparent hernia of the abdominal wall. Treatment is always surgical. |
