Analysis of data base for 73,000 patients treated at various hospitals of the Novgorod district demonstrated the efficiency of the system of diagnostically related groups and the "American" cost weight coefficients for assessing the resource requirements of each hospital with due consideration for the inpatient populations; moreover, such an approach is useful in dealing with insurance organizations in connection with each patient treated. The cost weight coefficient was found to be in good correlation with the diagnostic and therapeutic expenditures and less dependent on the duration of hospitalization. |
