[Colonoscopy without the aid of fluoroscopy. Results from a gastroenterological practice].

| Abstrakt: | In Switzerland colonoscopy is usually performed with the aid of fluoroscopy. However, the advantages of fluoroscopy are uncertain and it involves much equipment. Accordingly, in 200 consecutive colonoscopies we attempted to work without reliance on fluoroscopy. In this way the cecum was reached in 92.5% of cases. Addition of the fluoroscope made it possible to reach it in a further 1.5%. It is concluded that in gastroenterologic practice colonoscopy can be performed without fluoroscopy since the success rate is essentially the same. |
