Nervous system lesion is a frequent complication of diabetes mellitus. The article presented quantitative characteristics of the bioelectrical activity of the brain and analyzes integrative frequency parameters of electroencephalogram. Functional indices of brain were shown to be worsened in diabetics as compared to healthy persons. The changes in bioelectrical activity of the brain were found to be more pronounced in patients with longer history of the disease as well as in those who had specific diabetic microangiopathies. The EEG parameters in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus were poorer than in persons suffering from non-insulin-dependent form of the disease. Features of the functional brain disorders in diabetes are discussed. |
