The clinical efficacy of the foodstuff euconol was studied in 72 patients with coronary heart diseases, stable angina of effort, postinfarct cardiosclerosis, or silent myocardial ischemia. A good antianginal effect was achieved in 51.4% of patients treated with euconol. At month 4 of treatment, the patients with coronary heart disease displayed a significant decrease in the number of anginal episodes and nitroglycerin tablets; this was followed by a reduction in the number and duration of silent myocardial ischemic episodes. It is concluded that a prolonged euconol intake causes positive changes in the blood lipid composition and natural history of coronary heart disease. |
