Abstrakt: Two new oleanolic acid saponins were isolated from the leaves and roots of Beta vulgaris. Both contained the unusual feature of a 3,4 seco-glycopyranosyl moiety. Their structures were established by a combination of 2D NMR experiments and of Californium plasma desorption mass spectrometry.
