The albino experiments have shown that morpholide has an anticonvulsant effect in electroshock-, corazole-, thiosemicarbazide-, bicuculline-, strychnine-, arecoline-, nicotine-, tremorine-induced convulsions and tremors. The agent has a wider range of pharmacological effects than phenobarbital. There is a higher anticonvulsant effect of morpholide combined with phenobarbital, hexamidine and diazepam. It is suggested that GABA-ergic mechanisms contribute to the anticonvulsant action of morpholide. |
