Abstrakt: In 31 patients who had undergone extensive intraabdominal urological surgery, a gastrostomy was performed for gastric decompression instead of introduction of a nasogastric tube. There were no complications during the procedure. All patients tolerated the gastrostomy well. Two were fed through the gastrotomy. We conclude, that gastrostomy is a safe method of gastric decompression.
