Effect of some furan compounds--monofurfurilidene acetone (MFA), difurfurilidene acetone (DIFA), furyl alcohol (Fal) and furfurol (Fl)--on peroxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in lipids was studied in subcellular organelles of rat liver cells in vitro. By the rate of inhibition of lipid peroxidation the substances studied were arranged as follows: DIFA--100%, Fal--65%, Fl--27% and MFA--1-2%. The furan derivatives at the concentration 10(-2) M effectively inhibited the lipid peroxidation in subcellular organelles, especially in mitochondrial and microsomal fractions. |
