A biophysical model heart--body designed for experimental electrocardiographic investigations is described. The model consists of an isolated perfused dog heart immersed in a liquid volumetrical conductor filling the vessel in the form of a human torso with implanted electrodes for various ECG leads. The volumetrical conductor presents a hypotonic NaCl solution. In order to prevent heart damage by the solution, use is made of an artificial pericardium manufactured from current conductive rubber film. |
